1) User-Friendly and Mobile Optimized Interface

Odoo 17’s Shop Floor Module stands out with its user-friendly display, designed for simplicity and intuitiveness. This ensures easy navigation for both seasoned professionals and new users, enabling them to monitor production processes in real-time and make informed decisions.

The mobile capability of the module allows for managing production processes on the go, enhancing flexibility and keeping decision-makers connected at all times.

2) Integrated Quality Checks

A hallmark of Odoo 17’s Shop Floor Module is the integration of quality checks into the production workflow. This integration allows businesses to embed quality control measures seamlessly, ensuring that products meet the highest standards.

Quick identification and rectification of issues during the manufacturing process result in a smoother production flow, reduced waste, and higher customer satisfaction.

3) Shop Floor Module Overview

The Shop Floor module, a companion to the Manufacturing app, offers a visual interface for processing manufacturing orders (MOs) and work orders.

It tracks the time spent working on these orders, providing a comprehensive overview of operations.

This module replaces the tablet view functionality of the previous Manufacturing app and is only available in Odoo versions 16.4 and later.

4) Manufacturing Order (MO) and Work Order Processing

In the Shop Floor module, the All page serves as the main dashboard, displaying information cards for MOs.

Each work center also has a dedicated page showing work orders assigned to it. The My page shows work orders assigned to the active employee.

These features, along with the ability to search for specific MOs or work orders, streamline the management of manufacturing processes.

5) Quality Control in Manufacturing

Odoo 17’s Quality module ensures product quality throughout manufacturing processes and inventory movements.

It allows conducting quality checks, automating quality inspection frequency and creating quality alerts for potential issues. This feature is pivotal in maintaining high-quality standards and responding proactively to quality-related challenges in manufacturing.

1) Pass/Fail Inspections

Odoo 17 enables the implementation of clear and concise pass/fail criteria, streamlining the quality assessment process. This feature allows for immediate and decisive evaluation of products, where items are quickly classified as meeting or failing the set standards, facilitating a faster response to quality issues.

2) Dimensional Checks

This feature ensures that all products adhere to precise dimensional specifications. By allowing for meticulous measurement verifications, Odoo 17 guarantees that every product conforms to the exact size, shape, and dimensional requirements, reducing the margin for error and enhancing overall product quality.

3) Visual Inspections

The visual inspection capability in Odoo 17 leverages visual cues for quality control, significantly enhancing the accuracy of inspections. This method allows for a more intuitive and immediate identification of defects or inconsistencies, ensuring that products not only perform well but also meet aesthetic standards.

4) Image Capture

Integrating image capture within Odoo 17 adds a robust layer to quality assurance processes. By enabling the documentation of products through photographs, it provides a visual record that can be invaluable for quality verification, further analysis, and record-keeping, thereby elevating the reliability of the quality control process.

  1. Access the Shop Floor Module : Navigate to the Shop Floor module, which is integrated with the Manufacturing app.
  2. Review Manufacturing Orders (MOs) : On the All page, check the information cards for each MO. These cards display details such as MO number, product, units being produced and status.
  3. Identify Quality Checks : If a MO requires quality checks, the MO card will display a “Quality Checks” button in the footer.
  4. Initiate Quality Check Process : Click on the “Quality Checks” button. This opens a pop-up window where the required quality checks can be completed.
  5. Perform Specific Checks : Follow the instructions provided in the pop-up window to conduct quality checks. These checks might involve inspecting product specifications, testing functionality or verifying compliance with standards.
  6. Record Quality Check Results : Input the results of the quality checks directly into the system. This could include marking steps as completed, noting any defects or attaching relevant documentation.
  7. Address Quality Issues : If issues are detected, utilize features like “Create a Quality Alert” to notify the quality team or take corrective actions as necessary.
  8. Complete the Manufacturing Order : Once all quality checks are satisfactorily completed, click “Close Production” on the MO card. If the quality checks are not cleared, the system will prompt for their completion before allowing the MO to close.
  9. Review Work Orders : For individual work orders within an MO, similar steps apply. Each work order card displays status and steps, including quality checks for that specific operation.
  10. Continuous Improvement : Use the feedback and data from the quality checks to continuously improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

These steps ensure a thorough and integrated approach to quality control directly within the manufacturing workflow, enhancing the overall efficiency and quality of production in Odoo 17.
